I checked this book out of the library and read it to my son several times when he was growing up. It was always one of our favorites. He’s 39 now, and we still fondly speak of that book even now. I became quite interested in Walter Dean Myers and Robert Quackenbush in later years, researching and reading about their lives. The book was so funny and well illustrated that I thought the authors’ names were part of the joke and made up, lol. Especially Mr. Quackenbush! I’m sorry to hear that Mr. Myers has passed on. I was surprised and delighted when I discovered that he was a man of color. He was a great writer who loved children.
